Excursions Archive
YAYAS members really enjoy our lectures and excursions; in fact, they've often said these are things that we do best as a society. This page is dedicated to remembering the fun and informative activities YAYAS members have engaged in - scroll down for a trip down memory lane if you are a member, or for a taste of what YAYAS could have in store for you if you're thinking of joining.
A note to members: this page is only as full of memories as you can make it! If you have photos or memories you'd like to share (this could be a diary entry, a ticket stub or leaflet, or even a memory you'd like us to record as a little piece of oral history) please contact our Website Secretary, Graham Cook, at info@yayas.org.uk

Excursion to St Lawrence Church, York. 17th November 2021

Nick Beilby conducted us around St Lawrence's to show us the Denman organ from St Michael le Belfrey installed in its new home. YAYAS donated £500 to the church's fabric fund.

Tadcaster Excursion.

The Tadcaster Historical Society was keen to be helpful and welcoming and did us proud with an illustrated talk on early Tadcaster – including before it actually was Tadcaster; a visit to St. Mary's Church; and a walk along the bank of the Wharfe to view the Norman motte and bailey; the original town site (probably); and the viaduct.
Our visit to the church was accompanied by a 3 hour peal commemorating the outgoing vicar and before a wedding in the afternoon. We were trying to offer a 'taster' of Tadcaster. The church is worthy of a visit all on its own so perhaps, like other aspects of our excursion, YAYAS members may decide to make a repeat visit. Thanks to Ian Tempest for the lovely images.
